Baccarat is a well-known casino table game that can be found at any and every online casino. It is similar in nature to Blackjack, but it involves a bit more analysis on the part of the players. Six to eight decks of cards are used in a game of Baccarat. You can make one of three bets-- Player, Banker or Draw. Both the Player and the Banker are dealt their hands from six to eight decks. Prior to the deal, you make your wager on who will win--the Banker or the Player. You can also wager on a draw. There is only one round of betting and it occurs before any cards are dealt. Hands in Baccarat contain no fewer than two cards and no more than three.
You're wagering on which hand will be the higher. Baccarat works on a basic point system with face cards and tens being worth zero. An ace is worth one, a deuce two and so on. The cards in the Banker and Player's hands are added up. If the Banker holds an eight and an ace, then he has nine. If the Player has a two and a five, his total is seven. The winner, with nine, is the Banker.
The third card comes in play if the Player's cards total five or less. If the Player holds two cards totaling six or more they must stand. If the Banker's hand is less than seven, then they must draw another card. If it's from seven to nine, then the Banker must stand.
In Baccarat because of the rules governing standing or taking another card and due to the number of cards involved, the Banker tends to win four to six more hands per game than the Player. Thus, betting on the Banker makes sense statistically.
Casinos even the playing field by charging a commission on Banker bets that are won. If you bet on the Banker and win the hand, the casino will usually charge you 5%. Although the Baccarat payoff may be listed at 1-1, the actual payoff due to the commission stands at .95- 1, which is less than 1- 1. If you win by wagering on the Player, you'll get a 1-1 payoff. That means if you bet $100 on the player and win, you'll get $200 back. Bet that same $100 on the Banker and win, and you'll receive $195.
Wager on the draw and you'll get about 8- 1 if you're right. The House edge on a tie stands around 14.12%, while the edge on the Player is 1.36% and on the Banker is 1.17%. Although ties may occur, the fact is they are rare and not good wagers. Although the odds on a draw look good at 8- 1, you can go 20 or more hands and not get one draw. That means that wagering on the Player makes sense and statistically speaking, putting money on the Banker will pay off more times than any other bet.
